Keep Pests Out by Checking for Drafts!
As the weather changes and you are snuggled up at home, a quick draft check can make a big difference!!
Tiny gaps around windows, doors, and garage doors can become an open invitation for pests looking for warmth, food, or shelter.
Here’s what to look for:
- Inspect window and door frames and around garage doors for gaps, cracks, or worn weather-stripping.
- Use the candle or tissue test: hold it near edges. If it flickers or moves, you may have a draft.
- Check screens and door sweeps for tears or loose fittings.
- Seal gaps with caulk or fresh weather-stripping to keep both cold air and pests out.
- Don’t forget sliding doors and basement windows which are common trouble spots!
Why it matters:
- Pests often enter through the same small gaps that let cold air inside.
- Closing these openings improves energy efficiency and helps keep unwanted critters outdoors where they belong.
- Simple checks today = fewer pest problems tomorrow!
